Fun for the whole family at Beach Mission
Chilled summer nights. Relaxing by the beach. Serving the surrounding community with your whole family in tow.
Sounds pretty perfect, right?
Being involved with SU Beach Missions in Bargara became a yearly ritual for the Woolston Family – and is something that taught them much about life and faith.
Vicki, mum of seven, says it’s not always easy to coordinate family schedules now that her children are older – but she’s grateful for the memory of years when they would serve together as a family.
“Being involved in Beach Missions is really encouraging because you’re around a whole bunch of people who are enthusiastic about telling others about Jesus. I love how simple it is,” says Vicki.
“We’ve been involved for about 8 years now, and as our children got older they went from being participants in the program to leaders themselves. It was a great opportunity for them to serve the community.”
“It’s not always easy – it starts right after Christmas and you’re often tired from the year – but it’s been really worthwhile to put aside that time each year. It brought us closer as a family and we were able to build great relationships with other families and young people.”

Vicki was raised in a Christian home and came to know God as a young child – and shares that part of her journey has been learning how to stay focused on Jesus and not be distracted by all the things that vie for our attention in the world.
“The thing I love about Beach Mission is that it keeps the most important thing first. It’s about remembering that eternity matters, and it gave my kids the opportunity to learn about Jesus and meet other people who have a heart for sharing the gospel,” says Vicki.
“Working together, it’s amazing how we can help each other and make a real difference, and I think it’s just really important and encouraging as Christians to be involved with Beach Missions. It’s a good way to start the year.”
